Finishing Touches

We are in the final phase, adding the last of the finishing touches in preparation for our dedication and open house on Sunday, August 9. We hope everyone will join us at 9:30 or 11:00 a.m. for a special dedication service and then return for our open house from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. We will give guided tours of the newly renovated space and serve light refreshments.

Enjoy the photos below and check back soon for more. Thanks again to everyone who gave of their time, talents and money and to those who provided diligent prayer support for this project. God is good!

Words of Appreciation

This journey started way before our Servant Summit in
January, as the need for more space became more clear
each week. It is hard to believe that seven months later
we are here! Words cannot truly express my joy at the
completion of this project. I have stood amazed at the
awesomeness of God’s grace and provision.

I would like to thank the Renovation Committee for their
love and the way they have embraced this task. They
have prayed and sought God’s direction and have been a
people of integrity. Each have been a blessing and joy to
serve with. I want to thank my friend and co-minister,
Danny Davidson, for his sweet servant’s heart and
support. Thank you Brother David for believing in me,
even when I didn’t. I could not do what we do with our
children without the love and gifts that Brittany Curd
gives each and every week. The entire church staff has
prayed and given words of encouragement and support
daily.

I truly feel God sent a blessing in the form of Kenny
Williams. He has served as the General Contractor for
this project and has given of his time and effort all for the
love of his church and Christ. His wisdom and guidance
has made this project much easier. Kenny, thank you on
behalf of a loving and grateful congregation.

To this body of believers called First Baptist Church, I am
blessed beyond measure at your love and support for this
project. Your creativeness and faithful giving have been
such an example of Christ's provision and love. May you
honor God for His many blessings and give Him the glory!

With a Heart Full of Love,
Bro. Michael

Week Eight

I am amazed each day at what gets done!! Things are really flying now! Paint is now being applied to the walls, and light fixtures are being installed. The bathrooms have been given a fresh look and so much more. Irwin and Irwin Painting has done an excellent job of prepping and painting the walls. Massey Electric has done a great job of installing a ton of fixtures and lights. A huge thank you to Brad and Billy Denny for their donated time to this bathroom tiling job. It looks so awesome. New members to our church, William and Carol Batson, have given new urinals and sinks and faucets to round out the new look in the bathrooms. God has provided so much through each of these folks who give because they Love God and their church. Thank you so much! Please consider what you can give in an extra way to finish this project. Love and blessing to you all!

Children’s Consecration of Their New Rooms

On this past Sunday, July 26, each of the children's Sunday School classes got to go to what will be their new rooms where they wrote Scripture on the floor and prayed. This was such a blessing for me to see them with Bibles and such writing the eternal Word of God on the floor. What made this so moving was knowing that when they are older and come back to this place as a college student or young adult, they will know that the verse they wrote and prayed over is still on the floor where they wrote it!

The children were so excited to see the rooms and all that is being done in this area. The desire of my heart is for this to be an awesome testimony to the goodness and grace of God. Enjoy the pictures of these precious children as they consecrated early on the space that will soon be dedicated.

Plan to attend the Dedication Service and Open house on Sunday August 9. The Dedication will be during both morning services and the Open House will be from 2:00 until 4:00 that afternoon. Please continue to give, as this project is not fully funded yet. I am praying God will be honored by our being able to say it is completely paid for at the completion. To God be the Glory!

Week Seven

We are on the fast track now! Not only have the walls been finished, they are now being prepped to be painted this coming week. The painting contract has been awarded to Irwin Painting. It is truly beginning to look more like what I had envisioned. Sandy Felts has been very busy finishing the final choices of paint colors and fixtures and such. She is on the Renovation Committee and has been a true asset to this project. The children in Sunday School will be going up stairs on Sunday to the room they will soon occupy and write verses of scripture on the floor in their new room! Carpeting will begin on Monday, August 3. We are so very close to paying for this project by its completion date -- have you given your gift today?

Week Six

Wow, things are now finally moving a little faster as we head toward our finish date!! This week all of the HVAC and electrical has been installed!! Thank you to our subcontractors Haskins Heating & Cooling and Massey Electric for their fine work! You have been a huge blessing to this project and your church! Drywall is now in the process of being installed! All of the insulation is back in the ceiling and all of the framing has been insulated. The ceilings are now being done with the walls next. By the time of this posting they have not yet completed all of the drywall, but the goal is to have it all done by Friday, July 17. All of the furnishings and cabinets have been ordered. The new decorative lights and such have been purchased, and our carpet is now in. God has been so gracious to this project! Thank you for your continued support. If you have not given your gift yet, please pray and ask God what He would have you give. Remember that no gift is too small. Check back next week for more updates!

Week Three - WALLS!

Wow, things are moving at light speed! This week, as you will see in the pictures, there are actual walls now!! The door frames have been put in place and all new walls are now put up. You can get a sense of the size of the rooms and the length of the hallway. It is so exciting to see the progress this week! The HVAC work will begin by the end of this week and into next week. The electrical is not far behind! AWESOME! God has been so good, and things have fallen into place by His design. May I encourage you to be faithful in your giving and help us as we create space for future growth and meeting the needs of today.

Week Two!

This week the ceiling was prepared for some of the ceiling drywall to be installed. The resilient strips were put into place to hang the drywall where the new walls would be placed. This will allow work to begin on the new walls! God has been so good with this project! Have you given your gift today? You financial support allows this project to proceed! Let's "Step in to the Future" together!

The Renovation Begins!

On Saturday, May 23, seven eager folks began the demolition process on the second floor!! Carpet was removed and the central dividing room walls were removed. On Monday May 25 (Memorial Day), the demolition continued with 27 members and friends wielding hammers, crowbars and raw talent removed and completely cleared the second floor of EVERYTHING!! It is awesome to now look at a completely cleared floor and just imagine the possibilities it now presents! I think about and pray for the lives this new space will touch and minister to and am grateful for a church with such a heart!

We started with just a concept in late January at the Leadership Summit, and here we are in the beginning stages of construction. It is truly exciting! Each week we will update this page to help you see our progress and keep you informed! It is with great joy to inform you all that to date we have had over $54,000 given and this is with many continuing to give monthly to the project. I would pray you too would consider what you might give so as we finish this wonderful project we will have done so with no debt whatsoever! August 9 our projected opening day will be here before you know it!

Enjoy the photos!
